We launched in May 2001 as the Los Angeles Australian
Film and Television Association (LAAFTA) and relaunched
with a new name and structure as australiansinfilm
in March 2004.
The organisation was formed out of the overwhelming
interest in Hollywood regarding Australian talent and
new Australian films. australiansinfilm
provides a regular forum for the industry to come together
to view new Australian films and television drama and
to celebrate the work of Australians from all over the
world. With the re-launch australiansinfilm
is looking to further grow our membership and cement
our growing reputation as being a major player in Hollywood
not only to showcase Australians and their works in
film, but as a place where Australians new to Los Angeles
can turn to for support, refuge and a nice cold Aussie
beer.
australiansinfilm boasts
a membership now in excess
of 450. Over two thirds of the membership are ex-pat
Australians living in LA, working in the entertainment
industry and the other third are predominantly Americans.
Our members come from all sectors of the industry including
actors, writers, producers, directors, screen composers
and studio executives. A significant number of the membership
are also affiliated with influential organizations in
Hollywood such as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts
and Sciences, The Hollywood Foreign Press Association,
BAFTA and the Academy of Television Art and Sciences,
DGA, SAG, and WGA.

including Australian films such as Looking For Alibrandi,
The Bank, Lantana, Rabbit Proof Fence, Walking On Water,
