Australia's daytime soap opera Neighbours is available NOW on Hulu and Hulu Plus.

The streaming giant has acquired the exclusive US rights to the Australian series and new 22-minute episodes of the long-running show will debut daily, Monday through Friday. The five weekly episodes will air four weeks behind the Australian broadcast on Network Ten's digital channel, Eleven.

One of the world's most popular television series, Neighbours has been a smash hit since it first aired in Australia in 1985. Set in the fictional suburb of Erinsborough, the series is an entertaining daily serial which revolves around the lives of the families that live on Ramsey Street - a quiet cul-de-sac that is home to the main cast of endearing suburban families who are drawn together and brought to life, by the hardships and happiness of everyday living.

“Neighbours provides a delicious daily dose of Australian sunshine to soap-opera fans, and thanks to Hulu, we’re coming to the U.S. at a perfect entry point for first-time viewers,” said Jeff Siegel, VP Digital Distribution and Home Entertainment at FremantleMedia. “The drama, the excitement and the intrigue are all wonderfully accessible to anyone eager to get hooked on the compelling storylines of Australia’s longest-running scripted television series.”

Distributed globally by FremantleMedia International, Neighbours headed to the U.S. with enormous popularity and acclaim, both in its native Australia and in the UK.

The series has a long history of being a “proving ground” for remarkable talent, which has led to the making of a number of global stars including Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce (Memento, Iron Man 3), Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street), Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games), Alan Dale (Lost, Once Upon a Time), Jesse Spencer (House,) and Russell Crowe (Gladiator, Man of Steel).

Neighbours was first broadcast in Australia in 1985 and has since had over 6,900 episodes produced, making the series the longest running and most successful Australian drama of all time.

The soap follows the residents of Ramsay Street in the fictional borough of Erinsborough, who deal with the challenges and issues that ordinary people face every day.

Produced by FremantleMedia Australia, Neighbours continues to attract and fascinate a legion of devoted fans all over the world.

FremantleMedia Australia Director of Drama, Jo Porter, added, "FremantleMedia International has partnered with Hulu to establish and ultimately build an on-going relationship with this ground-breaking digital platform. A key focus is to learn how audiences on these platforms consume our daily drama and what the potential is. Neighbours is the perfect fit for FMI to experiment in this space.”
