Sam Worthington has joined the cast of Jennifer Aniston lead indie film Cake. Daniel Barnz is set to direct from a 2013 Black List script penned by Patrick Tobin.

Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect), Chris Messina (Argo), Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives), William H. Macy (Shameless), Britt Robertson (Under the Dome), Lucy Walters (Shame), Camille Mana (Smart People), Manuel Garcia Rulfo (Bless Me, Ultima) and Oscar-nominated actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Secrets & Lies) have also joined the cast.

Cake centers on the acerbic, hilarious Claire Simmons (Aniston), a woman who becomes fascinated by the suicide of Nina (Kendrick), a woman in her chronic pain support class. As she uncovers the details of Nina's suicide and develops a poignant relationship with Nina's husband (Worthington), Claire also grapples with her own very raw personal tragedy.

Worthington, who recently joined the another A-list ensemble cast on Everest, can currently be seen in action flick Sabotage opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terrence Howard, Josh Holloway and Joe Manganiello.
