Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke Terminator Genesis

Aussie actor Jai Courtney is set to play Kyle Reese in Paramount Pictures and Skydance's upcoming blockbuster Terminator: Genesis.

Last week we reported that Courtney was competing against American actor and model Boyd Holbrook for the role.

Courtney joins a cast which includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will reprise his role as the cyborg Terminator, British actress Emilia Clarke, known for playing Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, and fellow Australian and rising star Jason Clarke.

Thor: The Dark World helmer Alan Taylor is on board to direct.

One of Australia's most in demand actors - the Sydney-born WAAPA graduate also stars in two upcoming projects, Angelina Jolie's Unbroken and Russell Crowe's The Water Diviner, and has been tapped to star opposite Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller and Kate Winslet in Insurgent

A Sci-Fi action film, Insurgent is being directed by Robert Schwentke, and is the sequel to Divergent, which will be in US theatres 21 March, 2014.

Universal will release Angelina Jolie's Unbroken on December 25, 2014.

Insurgent is scheduled for release March, 20 2015.

Paramount has reserved a July 1, 2015 release date for Terminator: Genesis

The Water Diviner looks like it will also be released next year, bringing Courtney's tally to three films scheduled for release in 2015!

You can catch Courtney in I, Frankenstein NOW.

Directed by Stuart Beattie, I, Frankenstein also stars Aussies Yvonne Strahovski and Miranda Otto.
