Cate Blanchett is set to guest star in an upcoming episode of the hit ABC series Rake
, created by Peter Duncan, Richard Roxburgh and Charles Waterstreet.
Starring opposite Roxburgh, Blanchett's plays an actress who portrays an alcoholic lesbian barrister in a TV show inspired by Cleaver Green.
A professional reunion of sorts, Roxburgh and Blanchett starred together in 1997 film "Thank God He Met Lizzie".
Roxburgh told news.com.au, "Cate's an old friend and I've worked with her a lot... we just thought it would be hilarious if she would turn up in the guise of a hard-drinking, lesbian version of Cleaver Greene, in the film within the film. She of course gave it the Blanchett magic and it's very tongue-in-cheek and very fun."
Her first role on Australian television in 15 years, Roxburgh added, "We were very privileged and it was really great when she decided to come and do that for us."
The third season of Rake returns to ABC1 next Sunday, February 15 at 8:30PM.
Don't miss it!
