Disney has appeased excited fans by announcing that actors Johnny Depp and Australian Mia Wasikowska will both return to star in their highly anticipated sequel to 2010's Alice in Wonderland.
Depp will reprise his role as The Mad Hatter and Wasikowska will return as Alice. Titled "Alice in Wonderland 2," the studio announced a May 27, 2016 release date and a new director - James Bobin (The Muppets) will replace Tim Burton as helmer.
The announcement of a sequel should come as a shock to none, as the 2010 film took in more than $1.025 Billion Dollars worldwide (Box Office Mojo), making it the 15th highest grossing movie of all time, and a very profitable franchise for the studio.
Wasikowska is Australians in Film's 2008 Breakthrough Award honoree.
