Phase 4 films and Keith Leopard from Uncork’d Entertainment have acquired the U.S. rights to Mark Hartley's Aussie horror flick "Patrick". The film, which stars Rachel Griffiths, Sharni Vinson and Charles Dance, will be in U.S. theatres and on demand in 2014.
A contemporary re-imagining of the classic 1970’s Australian chiller, "Patrick" tells the story of a comatose patient (Jackson Gallagher) in a psychiatric clinic. Before long it becomes apparent that he has telepathic powers and his affections for nurse turn into a deadly and bloody obsession, letting no one get in his way.
Phase 4’s CEO, Berry Meyerowitz, said:
“Patrick simultaneously terrified and won over our entire team when we saw it at Fantastic Fest last month. Mark Hartley has done a tremendous job of paying homage to the original film, but adding a fresh and modern new take on it.”
Producer Antony I. Ginnane added:
“We chose Phase 4 because of their enviable reputation to adeptly bring films like ours to market. We couldn’t be happier about having them join with Uncork’d to release this film in North America.”
