Congrats to Brenton Thwaites who has scored the lead opposite Jeff Bridges in the Philip Noyce helmed "The Giver".
Based on the 1993 children's book by Lois Lowry, and with a screenplay by Vadim Perelman, Thwaites will play Jonas- a young man from a seemingly utopian, futuristic world, who is singled out to receive special training from The Giver, who alone holds the memories of the true joys and pain of life.
Another successful Home and Away alumni, Thwaites starred in this year's Aussie cricket comedy "Save Your Legs".
His next major role is in Robert Stromberg's highly anticipated "Maleficent" - the retelling of the classic Sleeping Beauty tale, told from the perspective of the princess' evil nemesis, Maleficent.
Thwaites landed the role of the Young Price in the film, which has Angelina Jolie, Juno Temple and Elle Fanning attached. "Maleficent" is set for a July 2014 release.
The young Aussie actor is currently filming "The Signal" - a sci-fi thriller written and directed by William Eubank, and starring Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix), Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel) and Sarah Clarke (Twilight).
