Variety is reporting that Abbie Cornish has submitted an audition tape to "Gone Girl" helmer David Fincher for the lead female role opposite Ben Affleck.
The entertainment news website also cited sources who say Cornish is set to meet with Fincher in the next few weeks.
Cornish is up against other potential female leads Olivia Wilde, Julianne Hough and Rosamund Pike.
"Gone Girl" is the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn's very popular New York Times Best Seller novel of the same name, which tells the page-turning story of Amy Dunne who disappears on the day of her fifth wedding anniversary. Her husband, Nick Dunne (Affleck), is the prime suspect.
Flynn is also writing the screenplay.
Good luck, Abbie!
